Leadership is having the people not the job!
Leadership is necessary at every level of the organisation. What is true is that we all have a leadership style, whether or not it is the style we would choose were we to reflect on that. It is also true, that each of us is at time a leader and a follower; sometimes we are a bit of both, leading those junior to us and following those senior to us.
From our experience, the leadership journey in most organisations is staggered. Leadership journeys engage persons in a process of redefining themselves as a leader. Assumptions are challenged as well as philosophical views and the individual's understanding of leadership. This process allows leaders to discover what changes are needed to develop an action plan for personal and professional growth.
All leaders go through some type of failure, all leaders have a sense of purpose, all leaders should realise the benefit of having the people and not the job and all leaders, most of all, realise that failure leads to the big winners. Ultimately, innovation should be at the core of all leadership attributes and the ability to lead without innovating in inevitably impossible.
Equipping leaders to navigate conflicting priorities, deal with uncertainty and and make ethical choices is the mission of CMIS Innovations.
